We make fun of Americans for being spied on and having no privacy rights and then our own governments do shit like this. Disgraceful.
I’ve seen a lot of people in this sub on posts about Palantir being like „We need EUROPEAN Palantir, instead!“ as if nationalism is the only thing preventing many of these people from supporting mass surveillance, so long as it’s „European“
If this gets passed i’ll only vote for the most anti eu party we have

Cmon Germany, not again
Just a couple days ago I read an article about how the guy who drove a car through a German Christmas market had been throwing red flags in multiple police jurisdictions for about five years and the most that had happened was a „Gefährderansprache“ – meaning he got a visit from the police telling him off for repeatedly threatening people on social media.
And you hear stories like that all the time. The authorities don’t need more data on everyone, they need to effectively handle what they already have…

Germany is slipping more and more away down from democracy nowdays.
Just use always connected VPN and decentralized open source messengers to be safe – government always had, have and will have access to normal ones e.g WhatsApp or Telegram. Hearing about chat control makes me feel embarrassed for any country that wants to implement it, but still, you have to remember that they could access messages before too.
