Yikes. I never understood the motivation behind spending 10s of thousands of dollars and risking gruesome death to climb what is essentially a colossal rock. Hopefully they make it out OK.

Trapped, yeah I’ve seen enough documentaries on Everest to know this isn’t going to end well. Hopefully they can at least try and rescue some. But damn 1,000 climbers?

    3. Wow there is some intense weather going on over there. The sensationalist headline doesn’t really tell you that 47 people have died in Nepal over landslides and also in India due to flooding with this powerful storm system. I imagine there’s enough food at EBC on the Tibetan side of the mountain but hopefully nobody hurt or in medical need there and they get the friendship road open again soon.

Why TF are there that many people there in the first place? Previous Everest disasters only involved less than 50 people. Is this involving more than just climbers?

Whoever thought that having a 1,000 climbers on Everest was a good idea. They get what they pay for.

If only Bill Paxton was still around to help this group out. I wish them all a safe return.

Id like to hear about a climber who brought a coin detector. That would make for a great movie scene.

Hope the poor Sherpas and their family are staying safe… however the mountain demands a sacrifice of well heeled climbers…
