It is a positive step, sure, they aren’t full democratic elections, but in a situation post-civil war, in a still destroyed country, with no democratic tradition for the last 50 years+, and regions that are not controlled by the government, this seems to be a start. I’m still sceptical of the commitment of the transitional government to build a state that is inclusive of all people and their willingness to accept democratic descision if they don’t like them, especially the situation in the Druze and Alawi dominated areas is worrying atm, but maybe there is at least a bit of hope, the Syrian people definitely deserve peace, justice and prosperity.

Just a reminder that Jolani and those who are in power in Damascus are former Al Qaeda, ISIS and Al Nusra terrorists.
