From my experience it never went out of fashion here. It’s just a thing a lot of kids do. Even my wife went to one of those classes after school as a kid.
If I was feeling cynical, which I am, I think it’s just one of those things parents send their kids to after school to look after them while they’re at work.
Same as kids English classes or cram schools.
Unpopular opinion but will how distracted this generation has become, taking a step (or a few steps) away from technology and letting students do something like that old style is actually good for them
