There was a post about the election results in Czechia, but me (and quite a few other Czechs) disagreed with the labeling, so I tried to create a better post with more accurate labels:
**ANO** – catch-all populist, will promise everything the people want to hear, they change opinions all the time depending on the people, in some ways right-wing, in some ways left-wing, soft euroscepticism, soft anti-Ukraine
**SPOLU** – centre-right, but a mixture of more liberal and more conservative minded people
**STAN** – a typical liberal centre party, a mixture of different people slightly right or left of the centre
**Pirates** – centre-left liberals
**SPD** – far-right party, anti-EU, anti-NATO, anti-Ukraine, pro-Russia
**Motorists** (Auto) – right-wing, but still a step down from SPD, conservative right-wingers with a fetish for fast motorised vehicles (young people who like Andrew Tate vote for them among others), soft anti-EU
**Stačilo!** – not shown on the graph, didn’t make it in, a block of left-wing parties led by the communist party
As for people questioning where all the left-wing people are – a lot of them, especially the older ones, vote for ANO, as they make a lot of pseudo-leftist populist promises like helping the working class and raising the pensions.
Some more hardcore leftists voted for the communists in Stačilo (which also includes the remains of the at-one-point big Social Democrats party, who were on a downward spiral since some time and now basically completely sealed their fate by joining forces with the communists – a big no-no for many people due to historical reasons).
And then the young left-leaning people mostly vote for the Pirates, STAN or the very small Green party which run together with the Pirates in these elections…

All of this is fine but can ANO or anyone form a coalition GOVERNMENT,,, no one has a majority
WTF is happening in Eastern Europe? Do you miss the iron curtain? Do you miss authoritarian regimes? What happened to the euphoria after the wall came down?

Not quite familiar with Czech politics, but are ANO basically communists/socialists? From my understanding, the results of the elections are not quite in favor of Eu/NATO? Thank you for the clarification!
A lot of people kept saying ANO is not right wing…but we weren’t talking about the economy, but about social progressive or not, that’s the criterion for left/right in 2025 (most far right parties like e.g. RN are leftist in the economy, promise social benefits for natives, pension protection etc.).
And ANO is not socially progressive. Who is actually socially progressive except Pirates and maybe STAN?

Foreigners: Disaster, Orban 2.0, Czechs miss iron curtain, another Putin lapdogs
Czechs: Phew, not good but could have been so much worse, this feels somewhat ok and like something we could get through?
ANO needs support of 2 parties. SPD has long history of internal power struggles,members switching/being kicked for dissent, lost seats vs 2021 and massively flopped now. Offered support to ANO govt,first demanded no seats, now I read they want in,so who knows. I feel ranting about EU/NATO with no responsibility suits them as they don’t have to prove their competence. Might not be as dangerous as we thought before?
Auto -newbies so unclear how they act or how united they actually are as party. Promised classic right-wing economics, reject green/woke, create alpha/macho aura around them, fast cars,suits,watches,breaking rules if they think they don’t make sense – catering a bit to young Andrew Tate followers? Some members (Filip Turek) are also close to our eurosceptic former president Klaus, though Turek again ruled out any debate on our EU membership tonight. They said they want to be directly in govt.
Even if they all find a deal, it looks to be fragile and unstable. Babiš will keep his current nationalist, slightly eurosceptic show to keep some domestic voters happy, wont actively support Ukraine, but I somehow feel he wont sabotage or threaten them either. Still think strong words, little action seems as the safest for him and his business interests. Maybe I’m completely naive and find out it all goes bad fast.
btw, why is no one talking about the possibility of parts of SPOLU splitting off (likely bits from ODS and KDU) to support ANO? KDU already ruled with Babiš. Have a feeling a few ODS MPs dislike SPOLU and could sell it to their voters as „sacrifice to save us from SPD“. And Babiš can do anything and his voters keep voting for him no matter what.
