Never try to profit off of Nintendo’s IPs. It will NOT end well for you

Good. For once, Nintendo’s overprotectiveness of their IP is an objective positive thing. Out of all corporations, I’m not at all surprised that they would hate gen AI, and be one of the first to do something about it. I hope they succeed.

Nintendo going back to the 80’s business practices.
That’s good news. Ai companies have been acting like in the Wild West for the last year or so.
Also to all the haters: If Nintendo wasn’t so lawyered up they wouldn’t exist today in the same capacity (see universal lawsuit because of Donkey Kong).
Being litigious as a company is the default and they sometimes even have no choice but to shut down fan projects etc.

This is the ONLY thing I agree with for Nintendo.

For once a corporation that opposes AI.

As generative AI learning improves, they could eventually pump out games in a day or a week or a month.
If someone doesnt do anything now while its still early and laws are basically nonexistent then games, the people that make them, consumers, everyone involved can be negatively impacted in ways you cannot even imagine.

What the hell happened to Nintendo. They used to be all about fun and inventing new ways to play video games. Now it’s all about reusing the same tired IPs for the 1,000th time and suing people.
Whoever is running Nintendo needs to step down, they are ruining its reputation.

This won’t change anything for 90% of the planet, AI is here to stay whether people like it or not, most don’t care one way or the other despite what online echo chambers think. Society will inevitably adapt around it the same as it has any other disruptive technology.

Let me see if I understand the current AI track:
Tech bros have collectively invested on par to many first world nations GDP, are actively destabilizing manufacturing as well as creative industries in preparation to making AI a thing, when they’re really going to start diminishing the general workforce and financial infrastructure, for both unproven tech and before this „gold rush“ was specifically warned by calmer heads not to rush into.
And the only business at the very least trying to slow down if not stop what should be an oncoming disaster is the company that’s a gen behind Sony and MS, with at least one of them in process of flaming out.

As much hate as Nintendo gets, I don’t think they would have their current success if they weren’t like this.
They aggressively protect their name beyond reasonable common sense sometimes (to us at least)
But I think they feel it’s what still allows them to be as successful as they are today, so they have no intention of changing their ways.

This isn’t good for anyone but the huge corpos. Less creative freedom, more power to the corpos to stomp their boots on us.
It’s rather depressing seeing the people cheering on this because they’re exactly the reason why the world is sucking so much lately. They don’t even think about their own freedoms and rights being taken away if it’s used to hurt those they hate.

Broken clocks and all that.
