People hate on Bill and I think it’s sometimes a bit undeserved. He is smarmy, and wealthy now and he did have lunch with Trump or something which was just a bad look all around – but he is well read and has been facilitating conversations about politics for 30 years. I haven’t watched in years but I used to enjoy his show and even though it’s lost me a little bit I don’t hate the guy as much as everyone else on reddit seems to.

      The issue isnt making money.

      The issue is taxes.

But the rich want to frame it about making money because they are soulless individuals.

      Kindness is the algo killer.

Rage bait generates the most engagement. That’s why companies spend money on bots that incite negative sentiment.

He’s not wrong. People in the real world don’t seem nearly as angry and hateful as the one’s on the internet.

The Apple design mantra was KISS – Keep It Simple Stupid.

Bringing technology to the masses has allowed the dumb and ignorant among us to think they are way smarter than they are.

I think Bill gets a lot of hate from the left because he points out things they do which lead to unnecessary election losses.

He’s wrong about a lot of things, but I’m glad the has a place in late night as opposed to another Colbert or Seth Meyers.

Yep and only going to get worse. And I rarely agree with BM anymore but he is right on this one.

Much more $$$/Clicks in rage than in happy.

No hes right, these tech moguls are wringing the good out of the public service that is the internet. It never should have been a place for people to capitalize on, it should be a public utility

Bill does the same thing, but his audience will be all dead in 20 years unlike mark Zuckerberg

More specifically its phones. If we had a national movement to get off our phones more, things would get better. I’m inclined to think the early defunding of national parks was done to dissuade the public from getting outside. COVID went from bad to batshit crazy good for companies, and they (Trumps administration included) want us right back there. And to me, lately it does feel like we’ve been right back in the pandemic again.

Counterpoint. Americans are angry and stupid. Tech bros didn’t create us. They just exploit us better and more efficiently than anyone that preceded them.

    12. Yes. Just look at Reddit. It’s designed to keep people engaged and typing… oh shit… they got me…

Captain obvious strikes again. Bill Maher is insufferable and probably invests heavily in said tech bros. Go away already Bill – you have never been funny or talented

Where the fuck has he been? Where was this before the election? Instead of whining about wokeness he could have been warning about the real threat.
