Aus allen nördlichen slawischen Ländern war ich immer das Gefühl, dass die Slowakei uns am nächsten war.
Interessanterweise gibt es eine historische Minderheit der tschechischen, slowakischen und rusyn/ukrainischen Menschen in Bih, die während Österreich-Ungarn auftraten. Während Jugoslawien wurden tschechoslowaken als günstige Arbeiter angesehen.
Jetzt ist Sarajevo und Bosnien anders als zuvor, was für jüngere Generationen verwirrend sein könnte, aber als ich andere Slowaken trifft, war ich überrascht, wie viel wir gemeinsam hatten, insbesondere in Bezug auf Nahrung und Sprache!
Oben abgebildet ist eine traditionelle Stickerei der bosnischen Muslime (und ich glaube auch Christen) namens Zmijanjski Vez. Es ist ein geschütztes kulturelles Erbe.

I love Bosna as a country, but i don’t feel very close cultural connection. I think we are closest to Serbia out of balkans
I dont think we have anything to do with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

I’d assume, number of Slovak people having any ties to Bosnia is close to zero. My friend did study the language and works as remote helpdesk for Bosnians, but he’s really the only one I know. Some people like going there on vacation, and that’s it.
I’ve never been to Bosnia or met any Bosnians (that I’m aware). I feel much closer to the Czech Republic as we’re neighbours and share a lot of history. The second closest would be Poland as again, we’re neighbours and I occasionally meet Poles. After that it’s just being Slavic

Personally I feel least connected to Bosnians cause I think our cultures are not that similar compared to other Slavic nations. It’s a Muslim country so expect majority of traditions and customs and generally way of life, to be different.
