    1. While I don’t support the US government in any shape or form getting into the business of taking equity stakes in any company. I don’t really see LAC as much of a Canadian company in the first place. It’s domiciled in Canada, like many mining companies are but the operations are in Nevada.

      This isn’t like the Saskatchewan Potash type deal where at least there are material operations domestically.

      Pretty bizarre to be concerned about the „independence“ of this project given it’s only moving into construction thanks to a $2.2B USD loan from the DoE, on top of a $600M+ USD investment from GM. There is no world where Canada „independently“ builds this Nevadan clay mine.
