President Donald Trump said he would meet Thursday with Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Russ Vought—one of the authors of the conservative „Project 2025“ plan to radically reshape the government—to decide where to make cuts as he seeks to take advantage of the federal government shutdown.

Trump, posting to Truth Social, said the Vought meeting will „determine which of the many Democrat Agencies, most of which are a political SCAM, he recommends to be cut, and whether or not those cuts will be temporary or permanent.“

      „Democrat agencies“ aren’t a fucking thing.

But pointing that out is a waste of time so long as congress is too fucking cowardly to do anything about it.

    3. Adventurous-Goal478 on

He does know that government agencies work for everyone, right? Does he genuinely think only Democrats use social safety net programs?

    4. 21-characters on

I am so sick of him thinking he can tell Democrats what they need to do in order to satisfy the orange buffoon king.

Kinda wild that no one in the US is doing anything while they slowly slip into complete fascism.

„I can’t believe the Radical Left Democrats gave me this unprecedented opportunity. They are not stupid people, so maybe this is their way of wanting to, quietly and quickly, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!“ Trump wrote…“

Republicans refused to negotiate, demanded Democrats meekly go along with their proposals, and when that didn’t work, they let the deadline expire without funding the government. Nothing about that was giving Trump opportunities, it was about standing up for what’s right, and refusing to bend the knee.

Now they just need to hold fast. Republicans caused the shutdown by refusing to negotiate, and now they’re going to use it as an excuse to gut programs that are very popular, even among the Republican base, and their fingerprints are all over it.

      *edit* typos

This is what happens when you can’t sell your ideology. You have to forcibly impose it. The ideology of MAGA is crap. It can’t sell in the market place of ideas. This is proven by how they complain about universities and institutions.

They are in an extinction burst, but really think they can alter the path of 300 million people in teh US and the 8 billion in the world.

The boulder is moving without them.

    9. Democrats need to go all „Sure Jan“ and keep ignoring him. Whether we were in a shutdown or not, he was going to do the same anyway. Trump thrives on attention, so if we ignore him and focus on the actual competent people in Congress, we can get this resolved without him. Plus, the less attention that he gets, the more he ups the ante on his unhinged rants.

    10. This is a Christian Nationalist coup and anyone who says otherwise is either blind or complicit.

Of course, he’s not actually allowed to do this legally – but they will push anything as an angle/excuse for more illegal actions. We are fully in a dictatorship, he’s just trying to find reasons for people to ‚buy‘ his consolation of power to sell it to the masses.

Dude, Trump has always spewed nonsense, but he’s completely lost it these past few months

Outside Newsom and Pritzker, no one is *vocally* sounding the alarm

We need a full-court press — he’s *literally* saying what he’s *literally* going to do!

This man will purge people of their positions, just like he did with US AID, ED, and other departments

I suspect the only answer to this is for it to get truly awful very very quickly for everyone so that people awaken.

Tiny goosesteps of „just a little bit worse than before“ is going to see you guys invade Greenland/Canada in a few years and its „how did we get here?!?“

The president is trying to inflict the maximum amount of pain on the people that he governs. The majority don’t want this. He is a traitor. He deserves the punishment of a traitor. and his underlings won’t escape justice. And neither will certain members of the Supreme Court.

He is a civil servant who took an oath to uphold the constitution. He has trashed it.

His job is to govern, oversee and lead to see that THE PEOPLE’S will is executed. He has done no such thing.

The fact that our lawmakers on the left fail to scream this at the top of their lungs in town squares, rallies, on podcasts and on TV is an embarrassment. They aren’t saying enough. They aren’t using the *words.*

Donald Trump is fomenting a war. Against the American people. He is a traitor.

EDIT: This post is strongly-worded. It is not intended to be a call to action, but to engage in discussion. I can’t even believe I feel I need a disclaimer for this post, but there it is.

    18. Yes let’s stop pretending that they care about governing. Unfortunately America has to hit rock bottom before people realize the threat of this administration.

We were warned. People stayed home when they needed to vote. Our hand is being held to the stove while they tell us everything is fine, this is all according to plan. Let’s see how people really feel after another year of this.

    31. dolemiteo24 on

The Democratic response should be that everything that he cuts just gets added to the list of demands.

    32. xXBassHero99Xx on

The dumbest part about this is,  The blatant partisanship of Trump’s post-shutdown funding cut spree is just evidence that he doesn’t respect any budget Congress passes. A main reason Dems can’t vote to approve the continuing resolution to fund the government is that Trump has been and continues to ignore Congress’s funding appropriations and just yank funds from whatever includes a bad word he doesn’t like like „equity,“ or more recently just „is about a big city where Democrats live“.
He’s literally punishing America for any land that voted against him. He’s doing the work of our foreign enemies while they crack open a beer and laugh and dance.

    33. When Project 2025 was published, so many people bought the „well, Trump isn’t involved, he doesn’t know what’s in there“ crap.

    34. Specific-Frosting730 on

Congress should be replaced with people who care about this country instead of making themselves part of the 1%.

They’ve abdicated their power to King Trump the Turd completely.

What exactly are they doing for the American people?

    35. Openly admitting to lying about Project 2025 lmao…Anyone who said he wasnt working with them is officially confirmed to be a moron.

    36. fantasyfootball1234 on

This was the plan all along.

      1) Manufacture a government shutdown

      2) use illegal methods to fire every government employee who isn’t MAGA

      3) Consolidate all government agencies into the fascist cult

It’ll be so much easier to act like a tyrant once all those pesky checks and balances are gone

    37. I remember so fondly around this exact time last year when so many of my „FB friends“ that are Trump supporters said, „Hey, enough is enough! The man said he doesn’t know anything about Project 2025, move on!“ They are so extremely quiet now.
