It doesn’t look bad till you sort by age bracket in places like Spain and realize youth unemployment is horrendous.

    2. This is completely wrong!! The unemployment rate in Denmark is 2.9% and that in reality also counts people that should be on disability or long time sick leave.

      Edit: Source: [https://www.dst.dk/en/](https://www.dst.dk/en/)

    3. I m surprised that Spain Finland and Sweden have higher unemployment rates than Türkiye. Is the situation bad there too?

In Poland is much higher. The People often dont go to Polish work agency as I do for example.

    5.  3x4h / month contract payed like slaves should not be considered as „job“. This map would be kind of different.

Sweden and Finland would be so screwed if another global financial crisis hit.

I like maps like the next guy, but OP should have indicated a precise data source and the methodology definition of unemployment. Job seekers? People who are not working but are below the retirement age? People who qualify for unemployment benefits?

Im slovak and we always joke that we are bad at everything so now seeding that we arent worst at something is weird

Well, then I guess it’s not really useful, when there is no explanation on how or which method used. When I say that in dk the rate is under 3%, its of the workforce (had to look it up). But as you say, of course it can be done in different ways.

ermm when is this data from? according to statistics Denmark the unmployment rate is 2.9%. Your map says 6.6%

While half of Sweden, I would argue the Norwegian numbers are a bit wrong. As we have a higher number of „disabled status“ people in Norway than Sweden.

Honestly more interesting to see the percentage of working age people actually working, rather than unemployment numbers.

    12. Ukraine is strange to me… youd expect full employment and then some in a time of war

    13. As a Czech person I can confirm – hiring new people is a nightmare. But it does put pressure on companies to increase salaries at least. It’s slow progress, but there is some.

Norway fudge numbers by having people do tiny bits of stuff once a week

Sorry guys but the Hungarian numbers aren’t real. The government has manipulated the numbers all the time

That polish data has to be from couple years back. No way we are that low currently. Our currency is didgustingly strong, absolutly no investments flowing in while others are being canceled. Myth of polish growth will come to the end soon. Not a single political party cares about the economy and our current one especially doesnt give a sh1t.

Genuinely curious as to how Ukraine would have such high numbers. One would imagine that during a war, every man must be mobilized for the war, whether that be on factories, in the fields, or at the front. Unless soldiers are counted as unemployed? Perhaps it is the wounded?

I say this since at least to my knowledge, in WW2, most countries suffered from full employment, not unemployment

    18. 1. Does this include people who gave up looking for work. (Labor force participation rate)
      2. Does it reflect in any way the size of the shadow economy? (Greece large number of family businesses)

I assume neither is reflected, and the methods vary materially. If I am right, for what purpose are these numbers fit?

Regardless some numbers here look shocking.

    19. Reminders: people who lost hope to find a job are not included, very unstable jobs count as employed, and poverty wages are not considered. Unemployment is not enough to draw conclusions and compare countries.

    20. Polish numbers are actually fake, coz in my 40k city there is a 10% unemployment rate.
