      I didn’t expect one.

      Trump and his cadre of economic hitmen feel like they can win a shutdown. They can not. Eventually, air traffic control will have enough of doing their jobs without pay and airports will shut down causing massive ripples in an already precarious situation and Republicans in the Senate will come to the table. As usual, Republicans will need to inflict a lot of pain on a lot of people before the reality of the situation will set in.

      Trump wants the shutdown to happen, and the democrats need to make that clear to voters. They need to have daily pressers over trumps response to their negotiating attempts.

      The longest shutdown was 35 days, because Trump insisted on $5.7 billion in funding for his wall.

      Trump’s 2013 remarks during appearances on Fox & Friends, Trump criticized President Barack Obama’s leadership, saying:

      „A shutdown falls on the President’s lack of leadership. He can’t even control his party and get people together in a room. A shutdown means the President is weak“.

      He also stated that a shutdown would be „a tremendously negative mark on the President of the United States. He’s the one that has to get people together“.

      Trump also said, „The problems start from the top and have to get solved from the top. The president is the leader, and he’s got to get everybody in a room and he’s got to lead“.

      Why the hell is this framed as a bad thing for the Democrats? When is it ever the Republicans fault? It would literally be framed as a bad thing if there was a Dem president in the WH right now. „The President can’t get a deal done“. Im tired of the double standards.

      I will never understand why the US has this shutdown panic every year instead of having the current budget continue until a new one is agreed, or at the very least the amount needed to keep the government open.

      It seems to (a simple armchair politician) like such an easily avoidable problem.

      Why isn’t there a pic of trump admin officials and JD with the title being “republicans fail to make deal to keep government open”. Our media sucks. JD can give a press conference immediately after the meeting and lie his ass off and zero pushback
