The entire world needs to just not go to American Movies and cancel streaming services. It is really the only way to quickly stop this BS. Also maybe we in Canada need to dust off the DST.
It’s pretty incredible how someone as stupid as Donald Trump has garnered so much unrestrained power to pull crap like this. The faster we disentangle ourselves from the United States, the better, because they are losing their minds.
How can you tariff a film? Most of them are made by American companies anyway, for what is produced in English, or distributed by them. So what are they gonna tariff physical media? How can they tariff something filmed overseas but edited in the US? Like…. What????
So, like, on DVDs? So, you can’t press a DVD abroad? I think that’s closest a movie comes to being shipped by truck

And now it’s probably due to the Demon Slayer movie box office that triggered him(or whomever he talked to).
Pure comedy. Hollywood is already nearly dead. There are so many stories of unemployed studio people out of work in LA.
It’s unbelievable how Americans have just ceded unconstitutional power to the presidency. The president doesn’t have the power to just decide on tarrifs unilaterally, but everyone in America has just accepted that he does, and now they roll out new ones by tweet and executive order.
Surpriiise USA, tariffs arent gonna make Avengers-Remake-Quintilogy-Part6: Mjolnir is a Toothbrush any more watchable.
The tariff doesn’t make sense, but Trump actually does a legitimate point that many jurisdictions offer tax incentives to lure away US film production.
So like, you go to the movies and the ticket costs more if it was made outside the US? Even partially?
What about shows that are streamed, do you charge more on the subscription cost? But only if you watch those shows??
What about commercials that are shot or edited out of country? Does the broadcaster charge more to air the ad?
I want to say this will never fly, but this *administration* has been very effective at causing mass confusion and somewhat getting their way in the end. If this proves effective, it’s going to be a real bad time for the industry here…
