    2. People don’t care about the text of the law they look at what their preferred party say and vote for that.

„Do people really think they are closer to a million than to absolute poverty?“

i hate to break it to you but yes. the mean net worth in switzerland is much closer to a million than to absolute poverty

    5. This „Eigenmietwert“ is one of the most stupid tax I have ever heard of (along with „Heiratsstraffe“). Good that it’s being abolished.

    6. Taxing people with homes will not, nor has ever, improved the situation for those who can’t afford to buy one. The solution is never more taxes, because people who have money will always find ways to avoid them. The solution you’re looking for is how to make land, construction of homes, and homes affordable so many more people could afford them and they don’t need to pay so much rent.

If you think taxing the homeowners and expecting the government to use that money to make homes more affordable in general, you’ll be waiting for a looooooong time.

What the government can do (without using the tax regulations as a tool) is limit the amount of land/houses/apartments one can own. Limit institutional investors in owning so much real-estate. Make regulations so that you can build more densely. This would all improve the availability of real-estate. More competition, meaning more real-estate availability is the solution, not taxing people who somehow made it and bough something for themselves.
