    1. As a right wing Albertan I would vote for the PC’s if they resembled what PC’s used to be before the PC’s and Wildrose merged. I would do this even if it would give the NDP a win.

The UCP has been taken over by the Wildrose faction and it leaves many right wing Albertans grudgingly voting for the UCP even though they just want to vote for a party like the PC’s were before the merge. The same thing is happening in the USA with the Republican party.

The UCP won’t change unless they are forced to with the threat of a new right wing party that will take vote share from them.

    2. The PCs aren’t going to get off the ground. At best they may splinter 2-5% in Calgary ridings but I doubt either of their MLAs will win re election under this banner.

Republicans getting 19% of the vote in other Alberta is not going to happen. They didn’t even get that high in Olds Three Hills Didsbury by election when they peaked in the media.

However, Nenshi has been such an ineffective leader that this may be his only shot unless some of the NDs still around leadership talk some sense into him.
