I just drove through downtown Portland. People are walking around with their kids and dogs, going to the Farmer’s Market, riding bikes and enjoying the beautiful fall day. It’s as peaceful and calm of a day as I can remember seeing, just a nice day in a beautiful city. The leaves are starting to turn and it’s a gorgeous time of year here.
This is not what a „war ravaged city“ looks like.

I love how Trump really enjoys supporting liberal cities by ordering a bunch of people to basically just go there and support the local economy!!
War torn? So trump is implying the pictures we are seeing out of Gaza are really Portland? Dementia is really starting to hit him hard.
War Ravaged? Eastern Ukraine is War Ravaged.
This is like saying a bus failing to show up on schedule is the End of Mass Transit.

Spent some time in Portland for work at the peak of Covid and was able to entirely comfortably walk around downtown well into the night with zero issues, I’d imagine it’s still much the same.
Like any big city there are well-known areas to avoid, but they’re not better or worse than any other city and certainly weren’t any neighborhoods or buildings burnt down.

It looks like this week’s round of doomerism pushed by Republican leadership is about the term „full force“ and the military deploying to Oregon. „Full force“ means nothing. The military uses rules of engagement, not marketing terms. He’s just trying to sound scary, but he comes off as pathetic. The soldiers will be picking up garbage in the rain and hate him for it.
Let’s talk about the Oct. 18th protests, the boycott successes, the Epstein files, and getting organized. This hot air is meant to scare and distract you. Remember Republicans are full of lies and cowardice.
I stated this on another post but I think it would be sarcastically appropriate for the major news outlets to cover this like a real war zone. Have your war correspondents go to Portland in protective gear. Treat it like you are in the middle of a fire fight. Make it look as ridiculous are it truly is.
I was just there for a wedding. It is not war ravaged. Trump is off his rocker again. Shouldn’t he be in a nursing home or something?

I live in Portland. I’m in downtown a few days a week, live just over river in NE. There are some fent heads around more than in the 2010s but the city is also bustling and generally great.
What I want to know is, what is all this costing us? I mean in real money. They act like spending tax money is nothing. By they, I mean the president and Congress.
They’re trying their hardest to spark some military clash against “the left”. They thought this would happen in DC and are upset nothing major materialized.
The lies are outright dangerous.
Do all you MAGA folks approve of this indiscriminate threat and use of force for no reason? Is this your idea of “ winning” ? ICE facility in Dallas attacked, why aren’t they in Dallas?
But Democrats need to tone down the rhetoric you guys.
As one of the surviving Angelenos, I can only say this. Accept your saviors, as they bring bliss. Before the marines, we lived in chaos, but once they arrived, the chaos was the same. A bit more frantic, and there were more guns, but somehow, in a way that I could not explain, quantify, or feel, it was better because they told us it was.
Where can I go to provoke a reaction from a group of people within the borders of the U.S.? Then I can label them “left” and “antifa” and the full scale assault can begin.
That’s the only thing that makes sense at this point.
