      I don’t vape or know much about them. But it appears the government isn’t interested in health concerns or addiction or children’s usage etc, just trying to make some cash out of them. Unlike cigarettes with 100+ years of history being grandfathered in, I doubt anyone would fuss too much about an overall ban on vapes, what with these being a relatively new introduction to the market. But rather than that, we’re going to profit from them.

      I literally just bought a vape with refillable liquid to try and stop smoking after like 10 years. Most of the reason was to save money. I’m absolutely sick of this government

      Netherlands banned all online sales and all flavours. This place the gradual ban on where you can buy any tabacco products, it’ll be off the table in a decade. Ireland should follow suit

      So this says they are taxing none nicotine fluid aswell, so does that mean that the base pg/vg liquid is being taxed too, as someone who makes their own fluid this is really confusing.

      I didn’t think they could tax the pg/vg as it is used in catering and other things, jesus I am very confused now at what I’m gonna be taxed on, but I sure as shit can’t afford tax on 1L of base fluid!

      Idiots. The way these taxes work, it’s more of a tax burden on people who use the liquid, rather than the single-use ones. No kids that are using the single-use ones are going to be put off by the slightly higher tax.

      I can totally get behind stricter measures. It shouldn’t be advertised. There should be flavours that appeal to kids. There should regulation. But they really messed it up with the tax calculations.

      All of this shit comes from Shenzhen. This has already played out in the US. I’m not being critical of Irish Customs, but the US can’t even keep up.

      This is an insane hike!

      I but 2 100ml bottles a month for 30 quid. Thatll now jump to 130! That’s not possible for me. Im literally priced out now. Fucking insanity. Its the disposables that are the problem, wtf is wrong with them

      Can these things not coming in under Return, 1e deposit for example, manual return to shops, then placed in WEEE container for collection.

      Did you know that Ireland was the last country in the EU to make it illegal to sell vapes to underaged people?

      Are you aware that this tax will make a weekly supply of tobacco cheaper than a weekly supply of vape juice?

      You’re swallowing the propaganda the government is feeding you. There are currently no known long term health effects from vaping, yet this ridiculously huge tax is being pushed on people using it to stay off an actively harmful and cancerous habit in the form of smoking.

      Why not just put heavier penalties on those caught breaking the law and selling illegally? Why punish people who have seen legitimate helpful results from swapping to vapes instead of smoking?

      Use your head. This decision wasn’t made with public health in mind at all. It’s a revenue collection scheme, as with everything else the government seems to be doing.

      I wouldn’t even mind if I could see the positive results of my tax money being put to use, but the health service is over stressed, public transport is always late, gardaí consistently underfunded along with a myriad of other issues.

      I knew once they started repeatedly mentioning vaping and smoking together that eventually the knuckleheads would get the idea they should be taxed the same.

      It’s saved my life and l would say many others too switching to vaping.

      If anyone has suggestions on how to subvert this unjust tax please let me know.
