    1. From the article

Nearly one in five Gen Z workers is deeply worried artificial intelligence (AI) will put them out of work within the next two years, according to a recent survey by Deutsche Bank Research. The generational divide is stark: While nearly a quarter of young adults aged 18 to 34 gave high scores of concern on a 0-10 scale, only about one in 10 baby boomers and Gen Xers (aged 55 and above) expressed comparable anxiety. The research captures a snapshot of growing apprehension among the youngest segment of the global workforce as AI accelerates workplace transformation at an unprecedented pace.

    2. It’s a lot easier for the people in charge to keep their jobs than for people at the bottom of the totem pole who need to climb a „career ladder“ that keeps getting pulled up.

(And this was also true after the 08 recession without AI)

    3. I’m gen x and I’m very, very bothered. I started over with nothing and nobody’s hiring.

My team of almost 30 supports tens of thousands of customers running hundreds of thousands of servers.

Every year we lose 2-3 people and every 2-3 years we add 1.

It’s usually work force reduction while they keep telling us how awesome AI will be. They add more tasks requiring wider skills. Tools streamline segments of work but making and maintaining the tools is more work.

And wages never keep pace with inflation while the amount of work and the kinds of work keep increasing there’s zero concern about moral or burnout because they’re just trying to make people quit to decrease OpEx and bump shareholder returns.

    5. They asked millennials, who screamed „we fucking told you“, and left the room.

Boomers and gen X can leverage it for more help. So that makes sense. Older gen X would be almost retired, it wouldn’t be AI affecting them negatively.

We need to ensure AI doesn’t lead to the new generation not getting training and leading society.

At this point, the youngest actual Boomers are in their mid-60s and the older Boomers are almost 80. How many of the people of these ages are still in the workforce?

Or is this another one of those Gen-Z „I call everyone over 30 a ‚Boomer'“ things?

Based on the headline nobody cared what the Millenials thought about it

    9. > Gen Xers (aged 55 and above)

WTF? Where are they getting that number? It should be more like 45-60.
