Isn’t the harm the point though? Farage is every bit the UK iteration of the moral panic and myopia that earned Trump his presidency; reframing the „weaknes“ of women as the cause of „defects“ in children has always been the play for certain groups.
Harvard and John Hopkins have made the same claims though, and so have Tylenol themselves. Bizarre that peoples blind hatred of Trump, won’t allow them see objective science and reality.
Bit of a dramatic take considering it’s nothing to do with him.
The evidence is there, so why’s it a political failing ? And specifically a Farage failing ?
Meanwhile Bridget Phillipson on endangering women by letting tens of thousands of undocumented young men into the country: „this is fine“.
Isn’t her comment here bascially that farage is the voice we should listen to on medical matters? Seems a bit mad.
There’s no proven link between paracetamol and autism, there is however evidence it affects testosterone in utero, which I’m kinda disappointed all the big government blah-blah outlets haven’t mentioned.

It’s a painkiller, it’s not a life saving medication.
This „blame nigel for everything Trump says/does“ might work brilliantly on existing labour voters, but it’s certainly not cutting through against the general public.
Nigel is not a „jimmy saville defender“ for opposing the online safety act, nor is he „endangering women“ for failing to comment on a product who’s own manufacturer says shouldnt be taken by pregnant women.
It’s not just desperate, it’s tone deaf from Phillipson. Oh well, everything she’s ever stood for is going to be torn down in 3 years, Bye Bye!
I mean, Farage could have said something like ‚I refer you to the BNF or the MHRA, who have made their own expert judgements on the matter‘ but instead went ‚Well, I’m not sure – but does everyone remember *thalidomide?*‘.
The rise in autism is caused by broader diagnostic criteria and greater awareness. End of story. It is not vaccines, not Tylenol/paracetamol, it is not 5G towers etc. There are some proposals for causes for autism, but other than genetics, none are that clear, and most of those with a possible link are stuff pregnant women shouldn’t be doing anyway (alcohol, eating foods with heavy metals, smoking etc).
The level of misinformation from the White House is absolutely astonishing and we need to strongly combat it, this isn’t something that’s difficult for the average person to understand, and it is crazy for me how dumb RFK and Trump are too dismiss scientists as liars and think they know everything. Their populist rhetoric against the scientific “establishment” is something we have to fight against here and hold people like Farage who may copy it to a high standard.
It’s weird how there’s so many comments here agreeing with or defending Trump’s comments. Weirdly no one was questioning paracetamol before Trump made his false claims, and within minutes of this post being made multiple different accounts are here making very similar comments. All active in the same subs too…

What I don’t understand is why autism is so heavily demonised.
Can autism make a person’s life harder? Yes.
Should certain accommodations be made for autists? Also yes.
What’s often neglected is how important autists have been for the advancement of the human race.
You like computers? Alan Turing was probably autistic.
You like electricity? Nikola Tesla was probably autistic.
Einstein, Darwin, Newton, all probably autistic even if it wasn’t diagnosed at the time.
Is everyone on the spectrum a genius inventor waiting to happen? Of course not. That doesn’t mean we can’t thank autism for inventing or developing some of the most important technology that holds up civilisation.
ASD is complicated, and it makes some people’s lives hell, but you can almost certainly thank an autist for something that made your life a bit easier today.
