Hi r/politics, On Thursday night, the Justice Department revealed an indictment against former FBI Director James Comey, that lays out [vague allegations](https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.vaed.582135/gov.uscourts.vaed.582135.3.0.pdf) that Comey made false statements to Congress.

The indictment is not at all surprising because, last week, President Donald Trump briefly posted, and then deleted, what appears to be a [direct order to Attorney General Pam Bondi](https://x.com/RichardHanania/status/1969534195782598947) to target three of his perceived political enemies: Comey, Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA), and New York Attorney General Letitia James (D).

And this isn’t the first time Trump’s Justice Department targeted one of the president’s perceived enemies. Months before Trump accidentally posted his message to Bondi, his administration already brought political charges against a Democratic member of Congress. Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-NJ) [faces up to 17 years in prison](https://www.axios.com/2025/06/10/lamonica-mciver-indicted-alina-habba-doj) for an incident where she briefly made physical contact with federal law enforcement officers who were attempting to arrest another elected Democrat, Newark Mayor Ras Baraka. The charges against Baraka were swiftly dropped, and a federal magistrate judge labeled Baraka’s arrest as a “[worrisome misstep](https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2025/05/23/us/mayor-baraka-judge-dismissal.html)” — but the charges against her are still pending.

That dream is being flushed down the john.

Test? No it IS the authoritarian rule.

Thanks to the comments below I double checked, and the more recent polls show a 68% approval rating for Trump, down from 76% in August.

~~Whatever his overall popularity, Trump has a 92% approval amongst Republicans. Fox is the most recent that I know of, but~~ ALL polls show a massive republican approval rating for Trump.

I cannot emphasize this fact enough – the Trump “side” is behind the President, and will follow in his footsteps. As long as this number remains high, you will not see a single Republican politician change tune.

And ask yourself – why should they? The sale of cheap emotion and cheaply produced facts is more profitable than slower analysis and accuracy.

The ONLY short term thing that got through the noise, was the Epstein issue, and thats because it harmed children.

There has to be a way to deal with the Media echo chamber, if anything has to change. Without that, the best case scenario that gets through the media narratives *right now*, is a massive recession before the mid terms.

Impeach the Supreme Court

Arrest Trump

Release the Epstein files

The fact he is going to the mat to harass a woman of color is literally the least surprising action.

But this case really is the test to see if the judicial system actually holds. Judging from SCOTUS its not promising but I hope I’m surprised.

Wait until next week when he fires over 100 top brass of the military and replaces them with people who pass his loyalty test.
