War is scary. Lots of people in the EU would be very much against the EU, or NATO going into direct war with Russia. They’d even protest at the suggestion.
The issue is, Russia has said the word nuke, and war, so much, at every single tiny little given opportunity… no one really listens, or cares anymore.
We’ll be shooting at each other before people realise that the next talk of war was the real one, before they even have time to decide if they want it or not.
Russia effectively has taken all of the fear aspects that allowed them to posture and get away with stuff all these years… EU governments can start shooting at Russia, and their population won’t blame them for it at all, or even worry that much.

EU and NATO never deliberately sought to fight war with Russia but Russia deliberately sought „special operation“ (war) with Ukraine that cost Russia very dearly in relationship with most of the West.
If Russia indeed want to start shooting war with West, their militaries have been pretty much discredited by Ukraine.
If NATO declared war, it would be really be over in 2 weeks.
