A refreshing take is rare to see. For all the endless op-eds written about the toxic drug crisis in Vancouver, there are remarkably few that look at this angle, which is that maybe just maybe, part of the problem is that the police are doing a shit poor job of stopping organized crime from operating and bringing in drugs.
That the local police are hampered in working with the port is a significant part of this.
Sorry, not a central matter, and not something you should be wasting energy on if you’re trying to fix actual *economic* problems. If you truly can’t make trade deals without it (which I doubt a *lot*), then you can do the minimum necessary amount of it as part of the trade-deal effort, but it shouldn’t be a top-line issue.
