    1. This whole thing is so embarrassing. Just kill it. Like seriously way is THIS the hill we have chosen to die on?

    2. No kidding – they aren’t weapons meant for war. They are hunting and hobbyist guns, and they are very rarely used for criminal purposes. This whole thing is so stupid, and that’s coming from someone who has voted NDP and Liberal my whole life.

As a side note, the minimum 50 word rule seems a little onerous and silly. Sometimes short and simple responses are warranted.

Of all the Trudeau-era policies, this was by far the most cynical. It was a lie, the Minister making it knew it was a lie, his advisors knew it was a lie, the PM knew it was a lie, and even their most die-hard supporters knew it was a lie. It’s rare in politics to see this kind of messaging where even the most devoted can’t even pretend to believe it. The promise was made anyways.

It was all the more cynical because in making this lie no one could even pretend to believe, they decided to try to use the suffering of Ukrainians as a shield. They tried to shackle Canadian support for a country under invasion to their farcical domestic policy to minimize blowback.

This wasn’t remotely near the worst of Trudeau-era governance because even if it had gone ahead its impact would have been minimal, but it represents the absolute worst decision-making tendencies of his premiership. Good riddance.
