Die britische Inflation ist in diesem Jahr in G7 in enormen Lebenshaltungskosten am höchsten.

Stop borrowing money and cut costs???
Nah, just get the workers to pay for it. Pay up worker bees.
They tried to cut costs and the typical Labour purity test started in the back benches.
Now we have to borrow more resulting in higher repayment costs to cover things we can’t afford. Taxes will rise at some point to cover it, people will go further to parties like Reform.
It’s funny because the best opposition to Labour everytime is themselves.

Might as well eat in a restaurant now lamb is about £20 a kilo
Almost like the last 14 years didn’t happen, member the good old days of austerity? Member?
Would anyone honestly be opposed to a tax rise if we saw meaningful change?
Unfortunately they have no moves left with the crazy pledge of no tax rises.
The attempt to tax companies seems to have failed causing unemployment and any meaningful gains have been swallowed up by failing to cut costs.
How much of said inflation is „ripoff Britain“? Companies taking advantage of the situation to inflate their margins have to be made to pay.
That’s fine, because it’s all being driven by wage growth!

Government inflation figures are absolute BS, costs are going up faster than they report, and wages slower.
We need a party which will deliver actual change.
Now the Greens have a leader who seems more focused on real issues e.g. nationalising key utilities, then crazy policies like nuclear disarmament, they may be an actual option. Labour and the Conservatives certainly aren’t.
A winter of discontent awaits after the next budget
Imagine a nation that put a trade barrier around themselves to raise costs on imported good. How silly would that be? Ah yes, Brexit the gift that keeps on giving.
Any more tax rises on companies will probably send the UK into a recession, how can we see growth when almost every bill is increasing and wages are stagnating.
They got many things wrong in Covid and many right. Quite a usual set of circumstances that most governments would have messed up in some ways.
Yes debt kept increasing, until the deficit is eliminated it will keep going up. People moaned endlessly about “austerity” but even 9 years of that failed to eliminate the deficit. Covid pops up and undone everything overnight.
I am well aware the deficit left in 2010 was a left over from the financial crash. Made worse by the fact Labour had run a budget deficit for years before when the economy was doing well.
Deficits are easy to ramp up, very hard to get back under control.
Lots of blaming govt here. But what are they supposed to do to actually reduce inflation?
The media and economics:
Monday: inflation falling
Tuesday: highest growth in the G7!
Wednesday: your money is now worthless
Thursday: inflation steady
Friday: UK now getting financial support from Mali
It’s not just different media outlets, the story changes *by the day*.
Maybe everyone should hold off on numbers until they’re sure?
You’re incorrect my good fellow. Because there was a global financial crash that you haven’t accounted for in your working out. Also, when labour left power the NHS did not have any waiting lists. QED your argument is null and void.
I thank you.
Inequality is the problem, have to stop taxing income and start taxing assets, Mr Billionaire who owns chunks of London pays less tax than me, just not morally correct imo.
Unless any political party addresses this then they are all tinkering at the edges.
Looking out across the channel to blame others for the poor governance they are providing.
While the middle class disappear and we’re divided to super rich or poor.
Bleak vote Green the only majorish party talking about this issue.
I guess the Visa fees and NHS fees will soon skyrocket.
I thought Labour’s first point was to tackle cost of living
The issue is the way the money is spent, we pay more tax but it doesn’t fix the core issue and will only get worse and worse. It’s like giving a family member that’s shit with money more money to fix the problem, it simply doesn’t work, you just keep getting asked for more and more until you’re both skint. There needs to be a huge change in how the money they receive right now is spent, audit rip off contracts etc. and stop people taking advantage of the public purse.
Whilst Triple Lock pensions undoubtedly helps make inflation worse and it’s well discussed here, the elephant in the room is what went up 6.7% in April. The minimum wage, that increase means not only more money needed to pay employees salary, it means more employer NI contributions and then on top of that there is the increase in employers NI.
The increase in minimum wage is needed, but lets not kid ourselves that it doesn’t add to inflation, I can’t help but think we just got very lucky in the 90s and 00s with the Chinese causing massive deflation in the prices of goods (domestic and industrial) that helped keep inflation down*. Before them it was the Japanese and then the S. Koreans, but nothing as big as China and the thing is there’s no one stepping up to take their place.
I don’t see this going down well so I’ll probably see you all in controversial posts…
*In 1995 the cheapest double sandwich/toastie maker in Argos was £18 that’s equivalent to £37 in today’s money, today in Argos the cheapest is £15, in real terms the price has gone down 60%.
*huge cost of government misspending all our tax money.
This is what you get with Labour. We shouldn’t be surprised that the economy is going to suffer, national debt will increase, inflation will be high and taxes will go up. It’s what was voted for.
Geez, its a good job theres not been any cost of living problems before this.
I have never earnt more money than now and never felt more poor.
It. Surely cannot get any more worse than this
Bring In farage
