I believe the first time they tried using the pipelines, the surviving soldiers wound up with severe lung problems. A bullet or drone beats suffocating and choking on gas.

I read about this a few days ago. It turned out that Ukrain already knew about the possibility of a sewage assault. Problem is, the pipes end up way too small to crawl through upstream, so there was little to worry about.
There will be no Siberian minorities when this war is over.
