I figured they are doing the same thing with Kimmel, as they did with Carlson.
As television and cable loses ratings to podcasts and YouTube; they use this opportunity to split off and take their viewership to new outlets.

I think it’s funny that all these people are screaming censorship about this.. yet don’t realize that his show, as all late night shows do have their own censorship.
It’s called BS&P aka „standards and practices“. Many are also the same people that wanted varying or all levels of COVID dissent silenced or the death of those who were doing it; whether it was regarding the efficacy of the mandates, origin of the virus, etc. And that’s just one example of what many are willing and wanting to remove free speech over. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, even when it’s for a show that clearly tons of those outraged weren’t even watching.. y’know.. given its plummet in ratings.. *NOW* it’s an issue. So censorship is only alright when it silences those one disagrees with..

Kimmel and Colbert were yes men. They are willing to do and say anything their corporate overloards tell them so they were useful to them. When their ratings tanked they were no longer useful and they needed an excuse to get rid of them. They though they could blame it on trump but the views saw right through that. Colbert and Kimmel are not at all funny, they deserve to be canceled.
Late night was pretty cool around this time. Same as Snl.

The network caved because they realized this wasn’t going to gain them any long term favor. The “conservatives” are going to continue to bitch about free speech that doesn’t fit their narrative and try to chill it, what’s new is now they have all three branches of government to back them up.

It had more to do with Sinclair, who has a history of right wing censorship and refused to show the Ellen coming out episode and also the primary driver behind its cancelation, I live in a state they own the ABC affiliate and they’re still not going to show Kimmel. Didn’t watch him really to begin with, but Sinclair is a dickhead company behind most of this
