I have come up with a few thoughts about how computers would acquire the ability to experience emotions. Please read and give feedback. I would be very grateful. Thanks.
TLDR;
* Why do humans show emotions? Emotions are thought processes, shown involuntarily in body, face and voice, making lying more difficult and cooperation more tenable.
* Why would we want computers to have them? Computers would be more trustworthy if they leaked uncomfortable but true signals, e.g. when operated commercially and guided by ulterior motives.
* How could we test if shown emotions are real? As soon as computers realize that a part of their thought process leaked, they would be “embarrassed” and possibly pass a mirror test.
