From all the news I’ve read, the main problem seems to be low productivity resulting in high production cost and JA artificially rising the price. Don’t know why the chairman of JA who created this mess is still in office.
Many people are moving away from Japanese rice to foreign rice and also moving to eat something else beside rice.
If people who can afford to eat Japanese rice want to buy them, it’s up to them. However, they shouldn’t try to force people who can’t afford it to buy high priced rice. It’s like Marie Antoinette saying „Let them eat cake“. It’s not about understanding sorry excuses for high price rise but about JA not understanding that many people just can’t afford them now.
EDIT: Sadly, it also seems like some government officials still do not understand that’s the real problem is with policies that resulted in this economy. Should lower their salaries to be national median wage with no people giving them free rice. They need to know how many residents are living.
