      From the article:

Justice Elena Kagan warned Monday that the Supreme Court is „overriding“ Congress to hand President Donald Trump sweeping new powers over independent agencies.

Her dissent came after the court, in a 6-3 decision, allowed Trump to fire Federal Trade Commission member Rebecca Slaughter while the justices consider whether to overturn a 90-year-old precedent limiting presidential removals. The conservative majority offered no explanation, as is typical on its emergency docket, but signaled a willingness to revisit the landmark 1935 Humphrey’s Executor ruling.

Kagan, joined by Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Ketanji Brown Jackson, said the court has repeatedly cleared firings Congress explicitly prohibited, shifting control of key regulatory agencies into the president’s hands.

    2. Today’s decision makes it pretty clear that they’re just there to let him do whatever he wants. It’s funny how when it’s convenient for them, the President can do whatever he wants. When it’s‘ something else though, well, Congress needs to do that.

    3. The people who are constantly in rooms with these ghouls should do something about these problems, like writing a sternly worded letter and taping it to their backs.

Donald Trump is not president. This is not how a presidency is supposed to go. Checks and balances were established to avoid everything that he’s doing. But the six Supreme Court justices have crushed that concept beneath their knees as they’ve kneeled to him and granted him absolute power. There’s no coming back from this.

The shadow docket coup d’etat continues unabated. Rule by fiat of an unaccountable cadre of totalitarians who no longer even feel that they owe the country an explanation.

She isnt wrong, they are literally taking down legislation passed by congress to give Trump what he wants. If people really think this SC will hold Trump for anything he does (like running for a third time or not ending birth right citizenship) you have not paid any attention.

When a Republican is President it’s unitary executive theory where the president can do whatever he wants. When a Democrat is in charge then Congress has to lay out everything in minute detail and if they don’t specifically say a president can do something than they can’t

Well, one thing this administration has been good for is shaking out a lot of bugs and edge cases. All this needs to be patched in the next release.

If we ever get a chance to fix things all this precedent will come in handy.

all i see are 6 people circle jerking the orange turd and 3 people standing up for us.

If the Dems were a serious about saving g democracy they would begin campaigning on impeaching these charlatans.

    12. Today, I’ve read about this, Trump arresting democrats and potentially taking over the US economy, which would lead to crashing the US dollar and the market. Someone, please end this nightmare.

    13. It’s hilarious how much precedent was set limiting the New Deal and all of its achievements, now they dismantle the Constitution in the name of an orange octogenarian ogre

And they don’t even bother giving an explanation?

Not shocked at all. I only wonder why we still go through the farcical court process. They should just do summary judgments instead of wasting so much time. We all know how it will be decided. All you folks that aren’t familiar with the kangaroo courts of most of the third world nations, let me hook you up with some knowledge.THEY WILL MAKE UP A REASON. The law at high level isn’t black and white its an interpretation of a gray box. No need to even worry. Just like in Venezuela. Just like in China and North Korea and Russia. They are only here to do what the boss says.

Welp… Trump’s illegal broad tariffs will stay. They won’t rule against the Orange Emperor.

The six Conservative justices absolutely need to face justice over what they are doing. This is an unthinkable betrayal of the nation.

Rebuild the SCOTUS from the ground up, in my opinion.

    17. When they blocked student loan forgiveness its starting to look more and more that they wanted to discourage Dem voting rather than follow the law.

    18. We no longer have any voice in our government, the six conservative justices on the Supreme Court are cementing that.

      What now, people?

    19. Wondering if there been a point in history where the common citizen physically relinquish the Supreme Court of their powers ?

      Aka “overthrow”

    20. Storm the Supreme Court and toss half of them out on their ass. Enough is enough.

Eventually we all become complicit if we sit back doing nothing. Protesting one weekend every few months does not count. All those resistance fighters who gave their lives fighting fascism from behind enemy lines throughout Europe are rolling in their graves.

    21. „Liar, lawyer, mirror for ya, what’s the difference?

Kangaroo be stoned, he’s guilty as the government

Now you’re weepin‘ shades of cozened indigo

Got lemon juice up in your eye, eye

Now when you pissed all over my black kettle

You must’ve been high, high, high, high“

    22. Question, with all of these decisions this sets precedent for the next president right? With the removal of federal employee say the next person in charge can simply start firing anyone at will so like appointees, even SCOTUS if there’s cause

    23. PanchoVillaIsMyTio on

A kangaroo court. The conservative justices don’t even pretend to follow the law.

The threats are an interesting approach.

Hope we keep the same energy when shoes switch feet.

    25. The Articles of Confederation were replaced without going through the process defined in the Articles of Confederation.

Do y’all think that Kagan , Sotomayor, and Jackson are calling out the other judges behind closed doors?

Or do you think everyone is beating around the bush?

I wonder if the conservative judges are acting offended or if they’re smirking if/when the liberal judges call them out?

    27. Distinct_Meringue on

The next Democrat president should fire a Supreme Court Justice and cite this.

I hope I see the day we have a Democrat or Independent as POTUS, and I hope that person has the willingness and courage to use these SCOTUS rulings to obliterate every government official, judge, attorney, aide, whatever… that facilitated this bullshit. Then use the “sitting-president-absolute-immunity-and-full-control-of-all-government-agencies” to repair and mitigate the damage done by this SCOTUS, POTUS, and Congress.
