      You have to hand it to him. He’s really trying his best to do what he can to help. I for one have tremendous respect for him.

      Who wants to bet the supreme Court will find states can’t dictate what federal law enforcement wears within their states/something to that effect.

      It’s not for now, it’s for later when lawsuits and civil rights litigation starts, officers/agents can’t deny their involvement.

      If I am reading the text of the law correctly, ICE can start being „healthy“ and give all its agents N95 camo masks and thus avoid any problems with the law.

      >(2) A “facial covering” does not include any of the following:(A) A translucent face shield or clear mask that does not conceal the wearer’s facial identity and is used in compliance with the employing agency’s policy and procedures in Section 7289 of the Government Code.(B) A N95 medical mask or surgical mask to protect against transmission of disease or infection or any other mask, helmet, or device, including, but not limited to, air-purifying respirators, full or half masks, or self-contained breathing apparatus necessary to protect against exposure to any toxin, gas, smoke, inclement weather, or any other hazardous or harmful environmental condition.

      Implications aside….I just find it funny that California now has a law that prohibits masking instead of enforcing it.

      all i want to know is what measures will be taken to enforce this? does it include accessible means of recourse for the public?

      i know they’ve all but done away with body cam laws and p sure ICE is not required to have them anyway so …

      why should i believe this will work in practice, not just theory?

      There are several loopholes in CA SB-627 through which LE can still wear masks. Read the fine print.

      Law enforcement can still wear masks under any one of these circumstances.
      -Supervisors of law enforcement assign an agent to an undercover assignment.
      -During tactical operations where physical protection is necessary. (Wait, doesn’t that mean ALL operations)
      -Applicable law governing occupational health and safety. (Anywhere masks are required)
      -Gas masks and surgical masks are completely exempt. They are not „Face Coverings“ according to SB-627.
      -If Law Enforcement is driving a motorcycle, they can wear motorcycle helmets.
      -As long as there’s a possibility that a mob of people could be possessing lasers, they can wear appropriate eyewear covering their eyes too.

      Anyone who calls this new law a mask ban doesn’t know what they’re talking about. This law changes nothing.

      Okay, but WHY is Gavin doing this? The Department of Homeland Security spokesperson has already said they’re not complying with the order, so what now?
