At this point when im ready to buy a new car Ill try to find one older then the 2013 I currently have. I want less computer tech in my car.

    2. My mom just got a brand new Subaru, I wonder what the stats are on her car. I’m in the market for a new car and I hate this because when I’m driving I like to think out loud 😡

I’d need to see a real source for this. I looked around to see if Jeeps have an internal camera or face analytics, and found no evidence that these exist.

My 2001 grand marquis refuses to cooperate with government entities other than providing emissions when requested.

Read an article a while back that stated vehicles were the number 1 source for data collection. Tracks everywhere you go, records what you say, and all that information is available to whoever wants to pay for it.

    6. If it connects to the Internet, yes. Everything that connects to the Internet does.

Are people just now realizing the whole point of making cars connect into the IoT?

Thid is only If your car is connected to isp networks or has if it has the latest generation of Bluetooth. My ‘18 Passat has none of these features. And my CarPlay port has been broken since I got it

    9. Yeah I got a 2016 recently. While I love the features I realize I’m now in a monitoring cell anytime I drive.

    10. How exactly would some have face analysis without video footage.

BTW ford now has face cameras to „ensure drivers using autopilot aren’t sleeping.“

It’s part of their blue cruise subscription.

Also car companies are squeezing $$$ out of consumers with subscription based services for the life of the vehicle. Yearly or monthly payments for features.

Also ever since onstar the cars have a chip that can be toggled to turn a car off or make it impossible to start.

Everybody is so obsessed with them thinking that companies give a damn what they have to say or think.

Advertising purposes are not the same thing as them caring what you think. You’re nothing to them

    12. My car has a mind of its own and that’s just the driver assist features back in 2019. I don’t think much has changed since then as my coworkers can start their car on an app on their phone, that’s about it. They have all the fancy features that they don’t even know how to use.

But when those fancy features make you brake when there’s nothing in front of you, there’s the problem.  The sensors are seeing ghost cars or something

I mean if it’s not your car, it’s your car insurance if you apply for the safe driving discount. Or dash cameras…

That’s why they had cash for clunkers. All vehicles can be remotely disabled and drivers can be tracked.
