Turning around a u-turn in procurement methodology in 8 months is unheard of. Great job. Now to deal with some people in the federal government procurement world who are very entrenched in their thinking and relationships with American suppliers.

Sounds good on paper but ultimately doesn’t make sense.
Procurement should always be structured to get the best value for the required goods and services.
If that happens to be Canadian businesses that’s awesome. But we should never be picking a suboptimal product or service or paying more for something just because it’s Canadian. That will just lead to more costs in Canadians, delays in production of goods and services, and/or inferior outcomes.
Hopefully what they’ve actually done is keep the central focus on price and quality and just offered some bonus points if a company scores the same as a competitor in those categories but happens to be from Canada.
