    1. The longer it takes, the farther America falls.

The GOP could vanish off the face of the earth tomorrow, and we’d still have decades of work ahead of us just to get back to where our standing used to be one year ago.

I don’t give a damn about „wins“ and „“losses.“ This is all more important than that. And has been. And will be.

      Fuck this language.

Just like every previous scandal was going to end him?

I’m all for a positive outlook on things, but at some point it become delusion.

    3. I think he’s correct that the right has assumed the „woke“ position they have so enthusiastically lobbed at everyone else. And when even Rafael Cruz is speaking out against censorship, you know there’s no widespread support for this. Trump and his cohort may be ready to learn that the magic of saying something and somehow mysteriously making it so is starting to unravel.

Hard to win against free speech when your biggest enemy is your own mouth.

    5. Newscast_Now on

Good, but what happens next? We wind up with a consolidated information stream that has total freedom to spam out endless propaganda and crowd out all other speech.

But we already have that. Imagine this: It can get much worse and it will. We need major regulation to prevent ‚full spectrum dominance by just a few reactionary ideologues hogging up nearly all media.

SC Justices headed by Roberts will give Trump special treatment.

They have fed this monster over the years.

He will probably lose his personal war on congestive heart failure first though.

trump is circumventing the constitutional protections around freedom of speech by taking over media outlets, one-by-one, and/or extorting them into submission. Today he declared 97% of the news illegal.

      Lose?? In what way?

He will do whatever he wants, whenever he wants.

Polls will say it’s unpopular, then on election day, nobody will bother to vote against it and it will continue to roll on.

      We’ve seen this movie before.

The dude had people come to Washington and smash up the capitol, while threatening to kill the vice president – voters said „mmmm….more of that please!“

This is why ICE received billions of dollars. It’s not about kicking out illegal immigrants.

Lol, dude, if you think Nazism is playing a game of winning and losing you’re insane and naive and worse.

They don’t intend to compete fairly. They’re just going to take power and disappear anyone who opposes them. Wake up.

    12. Disney „capitulated“ because they want to ask Trump for a favour to allow future rule-defying monopolistic acquisitions. They weren’t afraid of Trump, they are trying to gain favour with Trump. Free speech be damned, they want more market share, more money.

These tactics would never work for businesses that operate within a framework where the regulatory agencies, like to FCC, are independent from governmental pressure… But since that divide no longer exists with Trump and co, businesses like Disney see an opportunity to further expand their monopolies.

Disney is not a victim. They are a complicit partner in this attack on free speech.

    13. Yeah, no shit. He was shot at for being a douchebag, him and the rest of the party will get leaded up if they fly too close to the sun.

No he won’t. He owns the SCOTUS, and his loyalists rule whichever direction Mango Mussolini points.

I believe America is much different from most countries who have dictators. Like China and Russia prior to Putin and the fall of The Soviet Union, were countries ruled and oppressed by monarchies. The US is different based on the fact the country was founded on freedom and liberty.
Yes technically we rebelled against England, but we didn’t do a regime change but simple broke free. Then we offered everybody and anybody tired of living a oppressed life to come live in the “Land of the Free”

For 250+ years the American people lived on the idea of Freedom. Unalienable rights, peace liberty and the pursuit of happiness and so on. I believe oppressing a population that’s been free for so long will go poorly.

However I don’t believe we’ve felt the full weight of it. We have seen it and some have felt it but not the country as a whole.

I would love for anybody to show me a single instance in which Trump has actually faced a consequence. Yes he lost a lot of lawsuits, but has anything actually happened after any of those? Has he paid a single cent in his civil trials? Has he spent a single day in jail?

    17. We can’t count on courts and lawsuits or Congress to do anything about it. The public response to any threat to free speech should be with our collective voice and pocketbook. I’ve been doing the following:

*Contact all of your Congressional reps and demand that they protect free speech by being vocal, supporting/introducing legislation, hearings and inquiries, and demanding the firing of the FCC chair.

*Cancel any cable service and give the reason why that you don’t support companies that don’t support free speech or whatever you want. Just makes sure it’s free speech related.

*Check which if any local affiliates are owned by Sinclair or Nexstar. These would be CBS, FOX, ABC, NBC… as long as they’re owned by Sinclair and Nexstar. Before your service terminates, watch those channels that are owned by them and contact every company that advertises to let them know that you won’t be doing business with them because they are supporting the violations of free speech. Then, boycott as many as you can.

That’s what I’ve been doing. Spread the word and support any efforts to accumulate local advertiser lists. That would be ideal.

He’s diverting attention away from his involvement with Epstein…he and his devotees will burn everything to the ground before the collected evidence on Epstein is released…even if it no longer exists.

The last time he was like this it was over his tax returns, and what little we did finally get showed rampant fraud and tax evasion. The last time his finances were actually looked at after fighting a monstrous battle to get even that far, he was found guilty of 34 felonies.

He might think he’s playing poker, but he cannot bluff worth a shit and is holding the table hostage by gunpoint

As pathetic as their wrath is, this is still a country that elected Trump twice. If he has a popularity problem, then he seems to be addressing it in the same way he addressed his supporters‘ appetite for fascist violence: by catering to their pathetic wrath.

His promise to pardon all the people who violently attacked the police won him the endorsement of police unions. So the writer shouldn’t act as if the country just cannot be broken by bumbling authoritarianism.

And the youth is always just a few TikToks away from a Trading Free Speech for Crypto Challenge going viral.

Trump has lost only once in his life, and that was to Biden. Otherwise, he’s faced a laughably short list of consequences, and is restructuring the entire strength of the American Government around him and him alone.

Somehow, I doubt he’ll lose this fight too

    21. I don’t think he will. He may not *currently* have the level of control necessary to assfuck the 1st amendment but they have had zero issues getting policies that reframe, distort, and corrupt our elections. If they win next year, they can do whatever the fuck they want, like they’re pretty much doing on the DL.

    22. Meanwhile the wealthy that screwed kids get a pass, and the world’s economies are in turmoil.

    23. We’ll see

I’ve been told shithead was going to lose multiple times and be held accountable for the crimes he’s seemingly addicted to committing even more. I’m not seeing it dawg

    24. The man who lies more frequently than any other American is squashing free speech under the pretext of stopping lies, which of course, is a lie.

    25. Boycott the companies that cave to Trump AND their advertisers, especially Sinclair’s advertisers! Let them know why you are boycotting their products! Democracy might be eroding but capitalism isn’t. Spread the word and make a difference

Is this the “small government” the right has been crying about for half a century? Government sponsored television, masked police forces arresting people on the streets, firing workers for making jokes about their supporters, and rejecting tourists for having stupid memes on their phones.
I can totally see how this is limiting government control and bringing power back to the people. Nope, totally not going to end badly /s
