Like the people who painted the flag on the snail it’s a little slow

Seriously, though, painting the shells of animals is a great way to poison and kill them; don’t do it. Although we think of the shell as an object that is worn by the animal rather than part of the animals itself, that isn’t really true. The shell is just as much a part of a snail’s body as your teeth are of yours. And even if the paints chosen are skin-safe, they aren’t generally porous, and as such the paint can prevent stuff going through the shell that should go through.
Most paints aren’t intended to be worn on the body for an extended period, and animals aren’t able to wash the paint off, nor do they have the self-awareness or understanding that it is a thing they should even consider for their own well-being.

Someone could try removing the paint. But if they just remove the shell he might feel a little sluggish.
