Don’t worry guys. I’m sure they will organise another meeting and then send a strongly worded letter to Russia.
It always does the trick.

Turkey shot down a Russian jet in 2015 when it violated its airspace.
Why don’t other NATO countries do the same?

I know it would be dangerous to implement, especially with Air China continuing to use these flight paths, but why can we not just implement an automatic system that shoots these unauthorised flights into our airspace.
Surely an automatic system, agnostic to any sort of sovereign blame, is exactly what AI could actually be fucking used for.
Then when Russia inevitably searches for blame anywhere but itself, we can just point out to them that **they shouldn’t have FUCKING entered our air space then**.

Shoot. Them. Down.
Use enough ammunition to destroy plane and pilot.
See if they try this shit again.
Russia isn’t violating Turkish airspace anymore for a reason.

The whole Europe is acting like Britain and France before WW2 now.
They will tolerate literally anything to avoid a war with Russia (aka Nazi Germany) who will keep poking and poking and testing their limits until they straight-on occupy a NATO member (the new 1939 Poland).
And sure, we can all blame our leadership. But maybe the people should also start demanding actual leadership no matter the cost, rather than „make peace so that our energy bill is cheaper and our quality of life improves“ which is what around 30% of the big European countries‘ voters is crying about now (and votes for pro-Russia and pro-Trump parties)?
Who told the voters that sovereignity and independence have no cost to their pockets?

I really thought of all the baltic and nato countries atm, Estonia would be the one that would shoot down on sight, if they had an airspace violation. Nato seems to really want to let these things slide to avoid giving Putin propaganda ammo. It’s almost like they know he and maybe Kim + Xi would pull something or are desperately waiting for a scape goat reason to make a combined move.

If you shoot 1 down, then they will shoot 1 of ours down.
It does not matter if our own is within our borders, they will deny that.
Then what? Both lost a life and a jet. For nothing.

Downing a Russian fighter jet plays into Putins hand. He can say it was a technical problem or whatever, and NATO overreacted. Use it as a casus belli, if needed, but more probably to get support from anti-Western/neutral countries. We would never hear the end of it.
The thing with Russian foreign policy is, it’s like chess. Well planned, thought out, consistent. They tqke aggressive, but calculated risks. They don’t put their trust in chance or luck. Keep their options open, especially regarding propaganda. Also, they have plans on how to exploit the likely outcomes.

Not the best look for NATO, when the first response to this was the scrambling of jets from ITALY, ie 1300 miles away. What the fuck was Sweden, Finland and Denmark doing? Having a fika? Edit: Apologies to Denmark, they were probably having a Carlsberg.

Kremlin laughs at „condemning“ their actions, it is an act of weakness. Start radar locking the planes the second they cross the border.

Was this just another one of those classic incursions, where they get escorted back, or was this a real breach of estonian airspace?

Just shoot them down and then if the pilots survive arrest them and charge them as terrorists like Russia did to that Ukrainian pilot during the Donbass Conflict
