The joke was not very subtle. Not a single person watching would think he was actually groveling to Trump. It was pretty effective i thought.

„nervously“? Nothing was nervous there. This was precise satire. And sadly this is what Trump and co. want TV in the US to be: more like North Korea. Is hazard a guess that if you ask Trump directly „do you want the TV here to be like North Korea“ he’ll say yes.
