So these people aren’t progressive. They’re going out of their way to halt progress.

Yeah, hyper regressive actually.
There are different kinds of „Progressives“ obviously. I understand the concerns of some of these people. They’re worried that the environment is being forgotten in the path towards progress. We’re probably seeing some mixture of unions being upset with Carney’s use of the labour code to end strike actions.
However – To me, „progressive“ means moving forward. Some of the interested parties in this group, namely the unions, seem to care more about holding things still or „going back to the way things used to be.“ That is a natural reaction to change but it’s not one that ever stops the train of progress.
They have the right to be heard and to protest peacefully. That’s Democracy. I support that.
