„They found taking vitamin D2 supplements can lead to a drop in the body’s concentration of vitamin D3. Why this happens, or if vitamin D3 supplements reduce vitamin D2 levels, isn’t entirely clear.“

The headline is misleading, the study actually shows that D2 suplements lower your levels of D3, but there isn’t evidence that supplementing with D3 affects your D2 levels. It doesn’t recommend stopping supplementing with either, just suggests that D3 is probably more effective.

While you should always double-check, I don’t think I’ve ever come across a supplement which wasn’t D3.

If you can’t take vitamin d3 for some reason, just sit in the sun with your upper body mostly exposed for 15 minutes. If you don’t get much sun, start at 5 mins a day for a week then ramp up to 15. The body can make 10000 IU D3 from even just 10-15 min sun exposure.
