Cool, now if only China, India, and the US would do the same.
for anyone not reading past the headline
62-70% is considered half assed, ~~and is less than previous promises~~

Is this a reduction from the 2005 baseline mentioned in the article or a reduction from 2025?
Has Australia ever met its emission targets ?
By 2035?
I suppose the government in 2035 will tell the public: „Unfortunately, the government in 2025 set a wrong and unattainable goal. All blame for the failure to achieve the goal lies with the 2025 government. If you have any complaints, please direct them to them.“
Then the question arises, where will the government be in 2025?
Their term has ended, and they have retired.
So who will be responsible for this plan?
No one.
You people can go find whoever you want.
Sounds costly to the taxpayer by the sounds of.
Does this include the coal exported, or is that going to show up on India and China’s books because they’re the ones burning it making goods for sale to Australia?
For those not in Australia, we had a very alarming report come out this week about climate change.
Whilst exporting more gas and coal…..
The net result is we want to look good whilst increasing carbon emissions.
Makes no sense.
I hope those promises are followed up with an actual plan.
For the world’s longest continuous culture they seem to have forgotten the scientific fact their land crossing went underwater. I hear no mention of the harm done as that happened and separated them from their harmonious brethren
I love these reports. Reducing emissions compared to 2005 levels? How much have companies expanded since then in terms of emissions? Exponentially. Is this a cop out?
Yep.
Can we trust the 2005 emissions report? Do you think, even those levels at 2005 are reported accurately? Nope. Good work, keep making it the next generations‘ problem.
