Draghi is going to be disappointed in knowing that most Europeans don’t care.

Sorry Ursula and her enablers cant hear you as they are too busy kissing Trump’s arse.

    4. He’s right. And I predict that a year from now, he can say the same again.

Things. Are. Moving. Too. Slow. People.

And, as someone else already mentioned, Von der Leyen kissing Trump’s ass isn’t helping. She folds faster than a wet suit. We need a competent EU President with balls (metaphorically speaking), not Von der Leyen.

The US just canceled free speech. The US is canceling a lot lately, leaving huge gaps all over the place. The EU could step up and fill those holes, but it’s not doing that. We live in a time with huge opportunities for Europe, but we’re not seizing them. Because we’re being run by spineless cowards, who don’t have the guts to take the necessary steps to take the EU to the next level.

People don’t get the impact of gerontocracism.

Old people are immediatists. Not because they’re bad or anything, but when you only have 10-20 years left in your life, it is significantly harder to care about something 20 or 30 years away than of you’re 30 years old.

The older we get, the less the long term matters, because in the long term we’re all dead anyway.

This is the same as the time-value of money and discount rates. Anything in the future is worth less to humans than the same thing in the present, be it time, fun, pain, money, etc.

As the electorate grows older, it cares less and less about long-term human development, growth, sustainability, etc. and more and more votes for immediate short term benefits that will be paid by society in the future.

One example is here in Switzerland, where voters (mostly old people, plus a few brain rotten young people) passed an initiative giving current and future retirees a 13th annual pension payment, which not only is unfunded, but the current retirees didn’t contribute to it through their lives.

They simply don’t give a fuck: give me more money now and leave the bill to young people.
