Like it or not, this was targeted through Trump’s FCC. This is a dangerous world for talk shows that Trump doesn’t like.
It’s one thing if Kimmel was canceled for saying something on air that was offensive, it’s another thing if Trump is demanding it and it eventually happens.
If we want to go the conspiracy route, Kirk was the sacrificial lamb to start driving through more totalitarian consolidation of power. Interesting how Trump met with Putin and then Kirk gets killed a few weeks later and now the narrative is shifting to attacking an ideology and political parties.
