So any Romanian care to explain, what the hell is going on there?

    2. TheMidnightBear on

Ffs, who made the colours of POT and USR so similar?

Had a heart attack for a sec.

      Also, SENS isn’t center-left, it’s populist left.

    3. As you see pretty often in post-soviet countries corrupt politicians make bad politics, a weak judiciary aligns and interest-driven media blames the EU for the lack of physicians, migration of laborforce, low social standards. Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova… you name it.

    4. Who would have thought that one day the PSD (obligatory muie psd!) isn’t the ugliest spot one would perceive in such polls…

    5. Putin musk trump and other nazis are pouring cash to right wing nuts in Europe

    6. Romanians really want a taste of how it is to elect a dictatorial leadership. I guess Russia and Hungary weren’t good examples enough.

Yay another European country leans more towards (far) right political views. /s

I mean you don’t have to walk that far to find its kind of a trend now. Look at Austria, parts of Germany, ….

Half of AUR is basically PSD. AUR was formed by PSD to gather and keep check all the nutjobs on the Romania Mare party model that functioned from the 90’s untill 2015. The problem is that the „project“ got out of control. AUR’s main’s role was to scare the population to vote for PSD since PSD was never going to win another presidential election after 2000. They are the main reason why we are in this shit since they are corrupt to the bones and the pro west version of PSD is pro west because it make them money and not because of conviction. Even now they are opposing any kind of serious reforms. A lot of people who used to vote for PSD untill 2020 are now voting for AUR. Simion was opportunistic and jumped on the Georgescu bandwagon and got a lot of votes.

Romanians are not voting AUR because they are right wing but because a lot of them are fed up with the PSD and PNL combo after 36 years. It’s a fuck you vote from a lot of them. Ruzzian propaganda works because of the corruption and incompetence of these 2 parties. PSD would have no problem to ally with AUR if nedeed.

There is no real ideology in romanian politics. It’s just opportunism.

    9. Without any knowledge at all, I’m taking a wild guess that Romania does not have a highly educated population..?

    10. Damn, a lot of support for the Arch User Repository! Oh wait, it isn’t that AUR…

    11. Romanians simply won’t understand, that their main problem is the shadow economy. Every second person is working without paying taxes, even those who have a legal and valid job, get a high percentage of their payment in cash, so the companies have to pay less taxes. This hits the state and the budget very hard, and results in tax raises and restrictions, that affects everybody, not only those, who pay less or no taxes at all. This causes frustration in the whole country, and the target of the frustration is always the current governemt and the political parties that are governing. There is not a single party that could resolve this situation without restrictions or some radical changes. The radical right party, AUR, knows this too, but they ride the people’s frustration, and act as if their political opponents are the only ones to blame for this situation. This is the sad reality…

Must be the high and uncontrollable rate of immigration in Romania. I was in Bucharest last week, and it looked more like Pakistan /s

Based on the interactoins I’ve ahd with Romanians online, that’s zero surprising

    14. the-icebreaker on

This is what happens when an uneducated mass of people meets billions of rubles in propaganda efforts.

    15. I don’t trust most of it. Georgescu and Simion’s voters are still salty about the elections, hence such a strong support for AUR party. POT and SOS party are falling into irelevancy. It’s way to soon to talk about the next elections, which willl be in 2028.

    16. There is an elephant in n the room: right populism is going to rise for as long as EU fails to deal with the war. And the price of that is only rising with time.

huh thats weird why are all countries shifting to the right, must be Trump propaganda

    18. Yes, lets vote for the promise of easy solutions. Always has worked out great.

This is the main consequence of the educational system being purposefully neglected for 35 years, combined with Russian propaganda, some legit concerns and lots and lots of good old Romanian lack of ownership, victim complex and unshakeable belief that you know better than anyone else, in any given situation, no matter who with or what you talk about.

We barely scraped by this year, but can’t see how we can avoid this in the next elections. The part that scares the bejeezus out of me is that you can no longer get through to these people. At all. It’s beyond a religious cult now and cannot see any remedy.

Worth noting that 5-6% of the Chamber of Deputies in Romania goes to minority parties that more or less automatically gain seats and that there is a 5% threshold for parties. However the threshold can be avoided by gaining 20% in at least 4 (of the 42) constituencies. This special threshold is really only applicable to UDMR (the Hungarian minority party). Also worth noting that UDMR si always underestimated in polls. (They always gain 6-7% in reality).

Also, the next elections will be in December 2028 (Romania doesn’t do snap elections. They are purely theoretically possible, but practically impossible to reach the constitutional situation needed and never came even close to it + even then they are still facultative up to the President and President Dan already promised to never dissolve Parliament).

    23. Holiday-Holiday-2778 on

Duh. After the shitshow with the presidential elections, this is to be expected. It was a misfire that may have inevitably fed Romania to the wolves

    24. For all non Romanians who really want to understand our situation.

Last year they canceled the election without proves just because the corupt system (psd-pnl) didn’t had a candidate in the final tour.

After that they forbid the candidate who took the most votes Georgescu (independent).

After 8 months they condemned him without real proves. They say that some russian companies made tik tok videos for him. But guess what. PNL made campaign for him to lower the votes from the AUR candidate. There are proves for that, but it’s not mention in the condemned papers because PNL is part of system.

So basically the only party which didn’t ally with the corrupt system (PNL-PSD-UDMR + USR more recently) we try to change for so many years is AUR.

Most people who vote AUR vote anti corruption. We don’t want to exist EU, we just don’t like Ursula politics, so the solution is to change Ursula not Roexit.

90% of media is payed by the system to lie. We face a falling economy with 10% inflation and a lot of borrows so people are angry because all prices had rise a lot.

That’s the reason people will vote AUR.

Ue intervened illegally in romanian elections, was pretty much expectable

    26. I saw a poll that Romanians with a large majority wants to form a „European Army“, how the fuck does that go together?

    27. Western_Contingent on

Right… So there are 3 „far-right“ parties and 2 „centre-left“ parties, but 0 left or far-left parties… Something doesn’t quite add up here with these labels

    28. Careful_Manager_4282 on

Idiotic political agendas help push people to the sides. Far right is a reasonable outcome, I can’t see why people are surprised by this.
