Really it shows how real politicians earn (. I don’t like Khan at all, but 200k is the salary of head teacher in the high school. It’s reasonable for the major to get a bit more. Ministers should get way more…

We need to pay politicians well if we want to have competent people leading our country and cities. It also helps reduce the chance that they’ll become corrupt, which costs the economy far more than the salaries of politicians.

IMO politicians should be paid much better to hopefully attract some talent into government, and not hobby politicians like Jacob Rees-Mogg that can afford to have a hobby as such. You’d also attract grass roots politicians. This would have to be coupled with anyone in Westminster having no outside concerns.

I don’t really think politicians should be especially well paid really otherwise what do you rather do it for represent the people or get a paycheck. Khan is borderline a racist and narcissist though.

Are we supposed to be mad about this while many CEO’s make x100 this easily. I’m not even mad about the CEO’s getting there pay packages, evidently it’s what they’re worth in a capitalist society.
I just remember this clown promising no strikes whilst he was mayor. Forget the crime rates, ulez, refusal to engage on rape gangs in London, failure to build homes at the rate he said, except on green belt land, etc, etc.
He’s in charge of a multi-billion pound budget and a city of 10 million people. He should be paid a lot more than £170k. So should the prime minister.
Singapore has the right idea, pay politicians more so that they have less reason to engage in corruption, and to attract the smartest people into politics.
