    1. Really weird sort of nothing article here with few details, but the issue is that BC has amongst the lowest income and corporate taxes in the federation because the carbon tax was used to pay for that, and so the carbon tax being removed has blown a massive hole in the budget and there seems to be no attempt being made to fill this with new revenue sources.

    2. This is exactly why I’m not a big fan of Eby as premier. He’s had some good policies (Airbnb ban), but there’s far too much doing whatever the public wants just to attempt to stay popular. The average person is absolutely not who we want to be making our policies, people are incredibly dumb. You can’t just cut taxes willy nilly and do nothing to offset that, it logically makes no sense

    3. As I understand it, BC’s income tax collection was being adjusted each year to ensure that the carbon tax was revenue neutral for the province. Ditching the carbon tax should have come with an automatic increase in income taxes.

      on the radio this morning I thought they said that was before dropping the carbon tax.. anyone know if it’s after?

      dropping the carbon tax was so dumb. the NDP should have at least asked the Feds for some compensation or increased another tax since the carbon tax was supposed to be revenue neutral
