To me it always feels the other way around.
It’s not about the length. It’s the recognition of actions and the commitment to reconciliation and future actions.
„I’m sorry for what I did. I’ll never do it again.“ Means nothing
Ignorant question but why is Steven Fry on the picture? His verbosity? Or is he apologizing for something recently? I hope the former, I like him
The more I explain the less people trust me. I guess this doesnt apply to autistic people.
Genuine accountability with ownership and changed behavior. It doesn’t have to be long winded
I do not and never have.
I am Autistic, so maybe that’s it.
„Chatgpt, make my apology more verbose in atonement.“ There, got the despicable rich and horrific covered.
I’d guess it’s a matter of effort. The more inconvenient it is to make the apology, the more believable it is, as you’d sincerely *have* to care to go to the trouble.

I think if you’re making a broader point in a longer apology, then the length makes sense, but I can’t imagine just ranting a bunch of nonsense in multiple tweets is more effective than just a simple „I screwed up and I was mistaken, my apologies“.
YouTuber/“Influencer” apologie videos say otherwise.
That’s why Buzz gets away with it at the beginning of Home Alone 2
It’s the easiest thing in the world to say a concise “sorry”. It’s very difficult to actually mean it, especially when you don’t.
It’s not really about length, it’s about communicating that you actually understand the situation and what you did wrong.
I think it makes sense. Being able to say your sorry is nice, but if you can say „im sorry, and heres how i know i was wrong“ if said correctly shows more depth.
