Depends what you mean by wild camp. If it includes mobile homes and caravans rocking up wherever then that is a very bad idea.

How about we tackle all the fucking shit they put in the water so when you do go swimming there is no chance you are going to get Norovirus
If you wild camp properly nobody would ever know you were there. The reality is very different though and if it were made legal it would just be abused by idiots.
It would be nice if they could find a middle ground at least.
We only have access to 2% of our rivers and that’s fucking terrible. I adore rivers too.

Can we have less sewage in the water first? Has anyone else been to Germany and noticed that they have natural swimming pools? River water fed into reed beds and then the pools where locals swim throughout the summer.

The water companies destroyed most people’s desire to swim, water quality at our coastal beaches declined over the last 20 years. I would rather avoid the sewage.
Reactions to this are hilarious. Predicting disaster like Scottish folk haven’t been able to do this for decades and there’s been very few issues.
I think freedom of speech should be a much higher priority.
I’ve said it before, but England, especially in the south, is populated too densely for a right to roam to be realistic. There is evidence for this. In Scotland, there is one place where people aren’t allowed the wild camp: Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. A bylaw was put in place due to antisocial behaviour and litter from excessive campers. Loch Lomond is an hour from Glasgow, a city 15 times smaller than London.
If you look at the countries with right to roam laws, they have a low population density. England just wouldn’t work.
I love the outdoors, and spend more time there than most. I think there are lots of things that could be done to improve access. I’d love to see more footpaths, and giving councils the ability to create new ones. This could go in hand with a new legal presumption that new rights of way won’t cause any damage, meaning land-owners would have to make a very strong case that they would. Wild camping could be permitted in every national park, on a trial basis. All rivers could be made into public rights of way for anything up to motorised vehicles. We could institute a limited right to roam, making it permissible to walk from one footpath to another if it’s less than, say, a mile.

Camping as in tenting? Sure, but the law must make it clear you do so in a respectable way (clean up after yourself, leave no trace).
I know most walkers and hikers, especially in AONB or National Trust areas do that anyway, but I also know there’ll be people out there that will go out into a field to drink by a fire, camp and leave a mess behind.
Should we go tramping all over the countryside, disturbing the habitats of the life we share the island with? We are one of the most bio deleted areas on the planet.
If this Labour lot really wanted people to connect to nature, then they should stop building over it.
I’ve seen it all now. What the hell do we need more legislation for? There is more countryside accessible on these isles than anyone could walk in a lifetime. Why give another excuse to lazy people to not get off their butts and go outside. And what on earth is labour doing focusing on this non issue when the country is crumbling before our eyes. Streuth

Every policy decision has to at least placate the cruelest and stupidest impulses of the worst people in society.
Does this apply for car parks? Many say that you can’t stay overnight to discourage dogging.

I’d love better right to roam laws too. Here in Berkshire there is some lovely countryside that that is mostly inaccessible due to few or no footpaths and it mostly being private land. It feels wrong to me that the rich can buy up the natural beauty of the UK and make it inaccessible to the majority
