Definitely Armenian, but very hard to read. Some of the letters look really weird and the words make no sense. It could be another language using Armenian script

I can read it but it’s older Armenian so I can’t make out the words

I’ve seen this before:
Յիշատակ է Կեսարիեայ Սուրբ Աստուածածնայ եկեղեցուն, ՌՄԾԴ (1805)ին:
Might not be the same plate, I can’t tell what the letters are for the year. You say World War 1; 1805 ain’t that.
Edit: Not sure on the year, and looking at it again I think that last word is „եկեղեղեցոյնէ“ not „եկեղեցուն“.

This looks like church’s plate because it says “saint (can’t read, weird letters) church” or at least it is what I see
Seeing your nickname I really hoped your great grandfather would have died

Yes it is

A token of remember from the resurrected church from the central village. 1805.
It’s in ancient Armenian, which lends support for the date.
You want to understand its history, and your own, take it to the oldest Armenian church in your village and ask them.
This isn’t a simple souvenir you’d buy at bazar, it is possible one of your Armenian ancestors may have helped resurrect the church.
