Probably better than the old way.

Does have a touch of irony being run by social media after they tried to have social media banned.

People acting like this is some crazy thing Gen Z does now.

Nepal authorities have banned a ton of websites including social media websites and messaging services like Whatsapp and WeChat.

Maybe they are using Discord because that’s what is most accessible. Protesters have been using social media to organize and plan for over a decade. This isn’t some novel Gen Z achievement.

      >According to multiple reports, the youth of the South Asian nation managed to oust the existing government following an attempted ban of major social media platforms and took to Discord to hold an impromptu convention to elect an interim prime minister.

      >On Friday, the military accepted the recommendation of the protest group and named Karki the interim prime minister. Karki, who accepted the role, is expected to pick a new cabinet and eventually hold elections.

What a time to be alive.

Misleading title. Discord was used by the protestors for discussion only.

    5. I have never felt more ‚old man yells at cloud‘ than reading this news story

    6. These headlines are a miscarriage of justice when it comes to actually why any of this happened.

Did you guys see the one kids speech? It was all over tiktok this morning, but people were joking about how his zealousness and accent lended itself to a certain mustache man.

Don’t think the kid is ideologically like him at all, but I saw the similarities and thought it was hilarious.

The US is being run by Telegram and Twitter after the edgelord takeover.

    9. The caption to the photo: A man is hanging a pirate flag as smoke and flames rise from the Singha Durbar after people set fire to the Singha Durbar, the seat of Nepal government’s various ministers offices in Kathmandu, Nepal on September 9, 2025.

Lol it’s a flag from a the anime One Piece.

    10. Kudos to the military for staying mostly neutral.
They could have sided with a corrupt government, prolonging the unrest or even pushing the country toward civil war — but they chose not to.

Hopefully, no ambitious general tries to seize power and turn into a dictator during these turbulent times.

You might consider moving to Nepal. Since those old timers are in charge every other place.

    12. Not surprising. Ukraine and Russia (?) use discord for some of their rotational shenanigans as well.

    13. Imagine arguing semantics. Nobody, had this on their 2025 bingo card. Discord used to vote in a government official is insane

Yeah… I don’t think this is going to end well.
Revolution is sometimes a necessity, but what happens after is even more important. I don’t think this is it.
