Also the news is talking about the Bella ciao inscription as well which yes does have antifascist connotations from the 1940s but it’s also recently been co-opted by groypers and 4chan and was used in the Far Cry 6 video game as a collectible song for once you complete an assassination mission.

My MAGA uncle was asked by a friend if he would like to retract his comments now that he knows the shooter wasn’t a liberal and of course he just doubled down and said no because some people were celebrating his death. These people had their torches and pitchforks in hand before the body was cold and now they don’t know what to do but still want a fight.
End of the day, the deafening silence on Twitter after the firestorm that was going on for the last 48 hours, tells you all you need know. Even if he had left leaning views, he’s a white guy from a Mormon family that are all seemingly Trump supporters. It’s hard to sell that so they’re going to grasp at straws for the next day or two and by Monday, this guy will fall into obscurity.
