      It’s not “next” to Darndale, to be fair. There are some nice estates across the road, and Belmayne and those new houses are nice. If it were me, my biggest gripe would be the traffic and road situation. It’s an absolute shambles!

      Been seeing these posts for 10+ years. „X amount in X place is madness“ and i tend to agree but the reality is they keep going up and maintaining that attitude gets you nowhere if you want to buy.

      Got a 4 bed last year was 355 (not in Dublin) and now same house is 415. It’s just shooting up everywhere and doesn’t seem like stopping

      It’s a grand area and the houses look nice. Glenveagh seem to be building the best houses at the moment. Still an obscene amount of money but sure that’s the Irish property market.

      It’s really not that close to Darndale. Seems like a nice development, unfortunately house prices are just at that level.

      The area is quite ugly.

      They can make endless posh houses but eventually they all get bought by rich Irish couples renting them out or to real estate ventures.

      The result is a sea of workers moving in and out constantly and having no interest in making community.

      It’s like a ghetto but the new poor is young professionals from other countries.

      This is the reality of Clongriffin and surrounding areas. The dart station can be quite depressing and rough in winter. I’ve seen lots of drug addicts and drunk people there too.

      That was back in December, so it’s likely even worse now.

      600k euro is 973k CAD.

      There’s a weird cohort of users on here who deny how bad Ireland’s housing crisis is despite the mounting evidence. A lot of older homeowners unaffected by it, usually FG voters, also seem to deny the housing crises is as bad as it is.

      There’s 3 of them that quite literally have their front door opening into a Lidl carpark.

      Dublins been entirely priced out of help to buy now for anything not a 2 bed house.

      Crazy. I had to bite the bullet on 515k to stay in my preferred area which means I’m losing out on essentially 30k.

      What’s the bet they increase the help to buy limit after I draw down? I’ll be sick but then again at the same time at least my house would go up in value.

      I distinctly remember, in the worst days of the financial crisis, a 3 bedroom end of row house in Darndale selling for €37,000

      I’ve lived up here for 5 years. Had 0 issues. Prefer a new house rather than paying a fortune for a box that needs to have another 100k put into it to bring it up to scratch.

      As this is on the cusp of the city extending into the suburbs, the roads, buses etc are lacking but it is changing. I think I saw a new route to Balgriffin last week.

      It’s just not a good moment to buy. Much better to keep building on your assets and be ready for when the wave will go down

      Gonna be bought by mostly high skilled immigrants who don’t care about status on location and just want decent housing to raise their own families.

      To be honest, a lot of the anti social stuff in Darndale goes on in select estates by select families. If you just get on with life and arent actively looking to get involved in crime/ wander around kips at night for no reason, you’ll likely be grand. Still a rip off but quite unlikely living in the proximity of Darndale(where the majority of people are nice) will cause great distress in your life!

      We either have a lot of filthy rich people somehow living in Dublin or a lot of above average earning people maxing out their affordability and taking too much burden in either case not a very sound decision

      Bad areas have good areas beside them, that’s part of living in a city.

      In fact government policy is now to effectively spread all the social housing all over the city.

      Mine is hard to beat,l paid €345,000 in 2013,for a 5 bedroom Clontarf home, now its worth €1.1 Million and soaring. The price just shoots up and up. God is good.

      I was and still thinking that it’s reached a point that people might stop buying homes as these prices are ridiculous but I’m wrong, looks like there is still demand at these prices
